ERGONOMICS ISSUES IN AI SYSTEMS
Biography:
Professor Eric Wang is a Professor Emeritus of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan. He is also the outstanding professor for the College of Furnishings and Industrial Design, Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing City and that of the College of Management, Xi'an University of Science and Technology, Xi'an City, both schools are in Mainland China. He was a founding member of the Ergonomics Society of Taiwan (EST) and was the 5th President (2001-2003) for EST. He was elected EST Fellow in 2013.
He was the Vice President and Secretary General of International Ergonomics Association (IEA) from 2009 to 2012, and elected the President of IEA in 2012 until 2015. In more than 60 years of IEA history, he is the first Chinese origin Officer and President. He served as the Chairman of Awards Committee for IEA between 2015 and 2018. He is an IEA Fellow.
In 2009, he initiated the idea of having a joint ergonomics association for Chinese people. This lead to founding of Chinese Association of Ergonomics Societies (CAES) on June 24, 2014 in Taipei jointed by EST, Chinese Ergonomics Society, and Hong Kong Ergonomics Society. Currently, he is the President of CAES.
His research interests include ergonomics in healthcare system and patient safety, aviation ergonomics, human-computer interaction, system usability, web-based consumer behaviors, human factors/ergonomics and safety, and anthropometry. He has published approximately 200 journal and conference papers, and book chapters.
