CLIMATE ERGONOMICS: PREPARING FOR THE NEXT 50 YEARS

Biography:

Prof. Andrew Thatcher is the President of the International Ergonomics Association (2024-2027). He is the Chair of Industrial/Organisational Psychology at the University of the Witwatersrand where he specialises in sustainability and ergonomics/human factors. He developed the concepts of green ergonomics, climate ergonomics, and the sustainable systems-of-systems framework for addressing sustainability in ergonomics/human factors. He was the recipient of the 2022/2023 NSTF-South32 Green Economy award for his work on green ergonomics and the 2023 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Innovation and Social Impact in research from his University. He is also an editor of the journal 'Ergonomics' and serves on the editorial boards of several other ergonomics/human factors journals.
